You need someone to watch your kids.
Someone who is fully qualified, flexible, responsible, and playful.
I can help with that!
My name is Grace Witter and I love to help children grow and develop in a safe, nuturing environment.
I'm fully registered with OFSTED with a NVQ Level 3 in childminding from CACHE. I have a current Paedriatric First Aid certification, including use of an epi-pen, and am a full member of PACEY. It's important to me to ensure that all of my training and certification is regularly updated.
I have two children of my own and my childcare setting is very family orientated, with the love and stability children need to thrive
I always encourage the children in my care to be confident, independent, and curious. To that end, I use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to observe, assess, and plan each child's individual development and learning.
My childcare setting is designed to accommodate child-iniated play, with a wide variety of toys easy accessible. We also regularly attend toddler sessions and the nearby parks. My allotment also provides invaluable outdoors time for the children and gives them the opportunity to explore and experiment with growing their own food.
Children's eating habits are heavily influenced by their relationship with food. So to promote healthy eating habits, we examine our food as it grows in the allotment and its journey to our plates. I have lots of food related games and charts that are big hits with kids and we have a weekly age-appropriate cooking/baking activity.
One of my biggest passions is fostering a love of reading in children. Books and reading time feature prominately in my setting. I have experience teaching phonics to young children. I offer a small tutoring service to parents interested in introducing their child to reading or brushing up their skills.
All of my childcare policies are in accordence with the purpose and aims of the EYFS. These give each child the best possible start in life and support to fulfil their potential and to help young children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution, achieving economic well-being. The full details of these policies are available upon request and will be given to you upon our first meeting.
Some more general policies are as follows:
- Treat others how you want to be treated.
- We eat what we get and we don't get upset.
- Put toys away when you're done playing with them.
- Good behaviour is rewarded with positive attention and poor behaviour is dealt with by time outs and replaying the scenario with good behaviour.
